Monthly hands-on gatherings for educators to connect, create, and reimagine teaching—hosted by edm8ker + CWSS
Most teachers can recall that moment—a student fully focused, hands-on, making something that’s entirely their own.
That’s the kind of learning we believe in.
The MakerEd Meetup grew out of that belief: that when educators come together to share real, practical ideas, meaningful change follows.
Held monthly in schools across Singapore, and co-hosted by edm8ker and Commonwealth Secondary School (CWSS), these sessions are simple by design:
No big stage, no panels—just hands-on activities, honest conversations, and space to see how maker education actually looks in the classroom.
If you’re looking to explore hands-on learning, or simply want to learn from what other schools are doing, this is a good place to start.

What Makes MakerEd Meetup Different?
This isn’t a conference room with slide decks. Every session is hosted at a real school makerspace, led by real educators, grounded in real practice.
Each month, the agenda is refreshingly simple:
- Show & Share: A local teacher presents a hands-on project or teaching approach
- Makerspace Tour: Explore the host school’s environment—its layout, tools, and how it all comes together
- Try-It Activity: You roll up your sleeves. Micro:bits, laser cutters, recycled plastic—you’ll build something
Open Discussion: An honest, unscripted conversation among peers
Kicking things off with a creative warm-up: teachers designed name tags that reflect how they see maker education—personal, fun, and full of possibility.
💬 “We designed the MakerEd Meetup to be the kind of PD we’d actually want to attend—hands-on, teacher-led, and immediately useful. It’s not about more theory. It’s about what works, right now, in real classrooms.”
— Pin Qi, COO, edm8ker

💬 “Every time we host a meetup, we walk away with new ideas too. It’s never one-way—we’re all learning from each other, and that’s the whole point.”
— edm8ker
Why Educators Keep Coming Back
Because it’s not just about inspiration.
It’s about application.
Because it’s not just a talk shop.
It’s a build space.
Because it’s not just another PD.
It’s a community.

\What’s one challenge you’ve faced while trying to bring hands-on learning into your classroom—and what kind of support would make it easier?
👇 Drop your thoughts in the comments or bring them to the next meetup—we’d love to explore it together.
What Stays With You
It’s not just the tools or activities—it’s the mindset.
From low-cost builds to big-picture ideas, every MakerEd Meetup leaves educators with something they can try, adapt, or rethink the very next day.
Because when teachers learn from teachers, it’s never just theory—it’s practice with purpose.

Teachers reflecting on what they’ll take back to their own classrooms after a hands-on MakerEd Meetup.
Be Part of the Community
Whether you're piloting a maker initiative or embedding hands-on learning into existing subjects, the MakerEd Meetup is a space to learn collaboratively—with practical takeaways you can apply the very next day.
