When Veera launched Singapore’s first community makerspace, it wasn’t just about tools and tinkering—

it was about planting the seeds of “purposeful making.”

Inspired by the rich kampong (village) culture of Southeast Asia, where learning is hands-on, communal, and deeply rooted in real-world needs, Veera created a space for everyone—children, youths, adults, educators, and community members—to come together, collaborate, and bring ideas to life.

This wasn’t just a hobby;

it was a movement aimed at redefining how we learn, work, and create.

We’d been working with schools from the beginning, but in 2016, we knew it was time to focus our efforts.

With a dedicated team, we set out to bring the Maker Mindset right into the classroom, not as an afterthought, but as a core part of education.

That’s when Edm8ker officially became its own entity. We partnered with schools across Southeast Asia, creating spaces where creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking weren’t just encouraged—they were essential.

In three years, our Maker programs, Makerfaires, and workshops reached thousands of students in over 100 schools.

Purposeful making was on the rise!

Edm8ker’s success wasn’t just about reaching students—it was about empowering the educators who guide them.

Veera, Pin Qi, and the team realized that to create lasting change, they needed to build a strong, supportive community of educators.

We introduced professional development programs that helped educators embrace “purposeful making” in their classrooms.

This wasn’t just teacher training;

it was a movement to elevate teaching through shared learning and growth.

Always ahead of the curve, our team anticipated a significant shift toward digital learning and began integrating AI, robotics, and other emerging technologies into Edm8ker’s offerings.

This wasn’t just about adding tech to the mix—it was about evolving our concept of “purposeful making” into the realm of digital making.

By applying the Maker Mindset to digital and software tools, we bridged creativity with technology, empowering students and educators to innovate in the digital space.

When the pandemic struck, Edm8ker was ready.

With the strong support of our corporate partners like Intel, Meta, and Lenovo, we focused heavily on professional development, equipping teachers to lead confidently in this new, tech-driven educational landscape.

When Terence joined us as GM (North America) in 2022, we knew it was time to take our vision global.

Today, Eddy sits at the heart of everything we do.

Leveraging the power of Generative AI, the platform gives teachers around the world easy access to Maker-centric learning that sparks creativity and critical thinking.

As our presence in the US grows and our reimagined Makercart breathes life into the Maker Mindset, we're empowering educators to craft lessions that truly inspire.
